Leading the Way for Philippine Perfumery
I am proud to share that I was recently featured in Vogue. A milestone that signals the growing visibility of Philippine perfumery on the global stage.
For decades, the perfume industry has been shaped by narratives from Europe, the Middle East, and select parts of Asia. Yet, the Philippines, with its rich biodiversity and deep cultural stories, has remained largely absent from the conversation. Through TADHANA, the independent fragrance house I founded with my partner Evgeny, I am working to change this.
Defining a New Space in Global Perfumery
My vision is clear. To establish the Philippines as a serious player in modern perfumery. This means:
-
Championing Filipino ingredients. From sampaguita to calamansi zest, from elemi to dalandan, as world-class raw materials.
-
Elevating cultural storytelling so that every scent is a chapter of our identity.
-
Setting a precedent for future Filipino perfumers to build careers and brands that compete internationally.
Why This Matters
Recognition in Vogue is a platform. It demonstrates that the world is ready to experience Filipino craftsmanship in perfumery, and that our local stories resonate universally when told with excellence.
Trailblazing means building pathways where none exist, and I see this as both a responsibility and an opportunity. My hope is that this moment encourages other creatives and entrepreneurs to recognize the Philippines not as a follower, but as a contributor of original ideas and innovations to global industries.
As TADHANA grows, so does the movement for Philippine perfumery, a field defined by courage, cultural pride, and creative rigor.
